Batman - 2/5/99 - 2PM PT
WB Host: Kids WB and DC Comics are pleased to present Batman!

Mr.Mayhem asks: Batman - are you here?

Batman: Yes! Glad to be here!

guest732 asks: Do you sometimes get tired of the former Batman telling you what to do?

Batman: I have to respect Bruce's experience as the caped Crusader. But sometimes, when I'm in the heat of battle I'd rather do things my way than the way he would have done them. Sometimes this causes conflicts between us. But, on the whole - it works out pretty well.

guest732 asks: Does it bother you that some people see you as the new Robin and not as Batman?

Batman: I can understand how they would think that. But my situation is totally different. Mr. Wayne is no longer capable of going out into the night to fight crime. So, I'm out there on my own - I AM Batman now.

Dr Pepper asks: I missed the first episode, how did you get your new costume?

Batman: I needed to track down the men who killed my father. I had no choice but to "borrow" the suit from Mr. Wayne.

Dr Pepper asks: Why doesn't Batman have a cape?

Batman: The new suit has lots of cool features, like synaptic controls... neural muscular amplification, sound enhancement and camouflage. But the best part is the flying. With all these cool features, I don't really miss a cape.

Nikki J. asks: What's the show Batman Beyond about?

Batman: The show is about my adventures as the next Batman. Bruce Wayne has retired after years of crime fighting, and now I have taken over the mantle of the Bat. You can tune into my adventures Saturday mornings at 9:30AM on Kids' WB!

Jerry888 asks: who is Batman???

Batman: My name is Terry McGinnis. I'm a teenager who attends Hamilton Hill High School in Gotham City. After my father was killed, I assumed the role of Batman with the help of Bruce Wayne. Now he is training me to continue in his footsteps.

Beyond2068 asks: Do you like being the new Batman

Batman: Its cool! But it's hard work! It's not easy to balance my home life, my schoolwork, and my responsibilities as Batman. My biggest complaint is I don't get enough sleep. But still, I feel pretty good about doing something to help the people of Gotham City.

Oz311 asks: What happened to Tim Drake and Dick Grayson? Where are they?

Batman: I've asked Bruce Wayne about what happened to them. However, he has been reluctant to talk about it. Whenever I ask him, he just looks sad and says "It's too painful."

guest732 asks: Will you move out of your mom's place?

Batman: No, I don't think so. Having lost my father, I value my family and want to spend as much time with them as possible given my busy schedule. I hate having to lie to her.

guest851 asks: Batman, do you have a girlfriend? If so, is she a superhero too?

Batman: I don't really have a girlfriend. I have a close friend at high school named Dana. She was real supportive after my dad died and I really appreciated it. Now she sometimes thinks I'm kind of flaky because I'm always running off in the middle of dates and I can't explain why. I hope someday she'll understand. (By the way, she's not a super-hero)

cdore asks: Hey, don' t you think Dana is a hotty?

Batman: She's a babe.

ArtVandelay3 asks: What's the deal with Mr. Freeze in Batman Beyond??

Batman: Because of his cryogenic state, Mr. Freeze is still alive. Of course, he's only a head. I don't think he's much of a threat... But Mr. Wayne doesn't trust him.

Tolmek asks: Has Bruce Wayne made a training schedule for you aside from the times you need to go out and fight crime?

Batman: I don't have a "schedule" - but Mr. Wayne keeps me pretty busy. I spend most of my nights out on the streets fighting crime. It's a sort of a "learn-as-you-go" job.

Jumanji asks: the batmobile is great? isnt?

Batman: It's unbearably cool! It is cybernetically controlled by the Batsuit. So it is extremely responsive. It flies faster than any other car I've ever seen.

Traelorne asks: What about Powers? Will you guys run him out of business?

Batman: I hold him responsible for the death of my father. Mr. Wayne blames him for taking control of Wayne-Powers Industries. He is a blight on Gotham, and we will be keeping a close eye on his activities. He hired an industrial spy named Inque to drive a rival company out of business. Mr. Wayne will not stand for this kind of underhanded activity.

1222 asks: What's the deal with the Joker gang? How'd they get started?

Batman: "The Jokerz" are a bunch of clowns who ride around Gotham on motorcycles and cause trouble. They were probably inspired by the exploits of the original Joker, but they are nowhere near as dangerous as he was. That doesn't mean that they aren't a pain in the neck. It seems like every time I turn around, I'm running into Jokerz.

SmithFan1977 asks: Will Inque return?

Batman: It was difficult to defeat her, and I suspect we haven't seen the last of her.

Nikki J. asks: Do u like playing Batman or just being a regular teenager?

Batman: Being Batman can make life complicated. But I do feel that I'm doing something important. A lot of times teenagers feel frustrated, like the world's all wrong and they can't do anything about it. I'm in a unique position. I CAN do something about it.

Melanie Murphy asks: Who is your worst enemy?

Batman: Derek Powers. He has the money and the means to make my life miserable. Some day, I hope to put him out of business.

SmithFan1977 asks: Will you ever meet Barbara Gordon Batman?

Batman: Barbara Gordon is now the police commissioner. She knows too much to look the other way the way her father did. I think she knows who I am, but for the moment, she's not saying anything. Hopefully, we'll be able to work together - she understands what's going on because she was once Batgirl.

cdore asks: Is your little brother going to help you someday the way Robin helped Bruce Wayne?

Batman: My little brother, Matt, is a real twip. He's always getting into my stuff, and he loves it when my mom chews me out. But I guess that's what little brothers are for. Will he be the new Robin? No way!

SmithFan1977 asks: Is Mr. Wayne hard to work with?

Batman: He can be very difficult to work for, because he accepts nothing short of excellence from all who work with him. He himself has always been driven by inner demons. I don't think he understands people who want to have a normal life.

Jumanji asks: tell me about the bat cave?

Batman: The Bat Cave is underneath Wayne Manor. It holds the Bat Computer, and all of Batman's arsenal of weapons. Also, it has trophies and momentos from Batman's past adventures. Like, the giant penny that Two-Face used to try and kill Batman, and the Ventriloquist's dummy - Scarface.

cdore asks: Hey, Batman, will this BAtmanBeyond.com site be up tomorrow? It seems pretty cool.

Batman: Absolutely! Check it out tomorrow at www.batmanbeyond.com.

1222 asks: What's that "skin" that Powers wears?

Batman: Powers was bathed in radiation to eradicate a deadly virus. An unfortunate side effect is that he now glows. The skin that he uses to cover this freakish defect is synthetic and crumbles when he gets mad.

cdore asks: I think Kids' WB! is cool.

Samhien asks: Do you feel any pressure to live up to the legend of the original batman ?

Batman: It's an awesome responsibility and one that I take very seriously. I'm very lucky that I have Mr. Wayne around to help me. He has years of experience and tremendous resources which I can draw on in dangerous times. I think we make a pretty good team - and hopefully this new chapter in the Batman saga will live up to everyone's expectations.

1222 asks: What was it like to have Inque, well....force fed to you?

Batman: In a word - gross. She made me puke. Luckily, Mr. Wayne was there to help.

Vedoc asks: It seems that Batman beyond bad guys are more industrial espionage then mobsters...is that true?

Batman: No, evil still wears many faces in Gotham. Check out tomorrow morning's episode which will feature a new menace called "The Golem." Tune in tomorrow to Kids' WB! at 9:30AM to watch me take on The Golem.

SmithFan1977 asks: Why did Bruce change the Batman costume?

Batman: He added lots of cutting-edge features For example: the Batarangs are released from a special system in the wrists of the costume. Also, there's a direct 2-way com-link to the Batcave, so I can get information while I'm out on the streets.
